Home, Sweet Home

20 06 2007

I love my little green house.

I rent it. I found it at a very hard time in my life and when I moved in I finally felt truly at home. It has a old ceramic kitchen sink.

And a Dutch door.

And a great back deck.

And roses.

And my landlord stopped by tonight to let me know they wanted to put it on the market this summer.

They just had twins – unplanned – and they are really the greatest people. I understand that this is the risk you take when you rent, but I can’t afford to buy.

And it breaks my heart.

Oh no, that sucks! I loved your house too…

You definitely can’t afford to buy it off them? Sometimes if you cut things back or make the right deals you might be surprised at what you can afford? (If you get on with them, you might be able to snatch a quick, and cheap, sale?)

That’s awful! But maybe look into Ant’s suggestion that you buy it. They may be willing to cut you a deal. And there are lots of programs out there for first time homebuyers (although, maybe you aren’t?).

Goodness, best of luck! And there’s always Philadelphia 😉

I’m with the other two.

Maybe, just MAYBE, you will be allowed to keep it?

Sending good thoughts your way!

saaaaaaaaaad.
i hate moving… never mind having to leave the perfect place.
maybe new owners are buying it as an investment and will want you to stay!

Awww poopy.

I’ll throw my weight in with everyone else. Maybe you can come up with a long term lease applied-to-purchase sort of deal. With twins, they’re going to need steady income.

Couldn’t hurt to ask, right?

That’s so tough, Shari. I hope that maybe, just maybe, you can find a way. *hug*

What those smart people up there said. You could work a deal, I’m sure. Least to own might just work!

What a bummer. I agree that if the renters are willing, a rent-to-own situation might work. Hope things work out for the best.

When I bought my house it was tenanted, and i just kept the tenant on on the same terms. I’ll cross my fingies and toes that it’ll happen that way for you.

Or you win the Lottery even.
